The government yesterday announced Padma Bridge of approximately 36 percent of its physical works had been completed to the parliamentary Standing Committee on Government Assurances.
The concerned administrators notified a meeting of the standing committee that till September, 36 percent of the physical operations of the Padma Bridge has been finished, a parliamentary secretariat official stated.
As per, Implementation, Scrutiny and Evaluation Division, he added, the engineers assembled 29 percent of the main bridge and finished building of 99 percent of the connecting road at Mawa point and 77 percent of the connecting road at Jajira point.
A parliamentary secretariat report earlier announced a meeting of the committee presided by chairman Kazi Keramat Ali, evaluated the advancement of the projects under Road Transport and Bridges ministry.
Officials involved notified the committee that they performed one of the four assurances conveyed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina concerning the ministry while works have been initiated to execute the other three including the Padma Bridge.
The committee proposed recruitment of full-time one project director for every mega project under the ministry to build them in time.
The statement said this was the 26th meeting of the committee joined by concerned officials.
