Ports in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been urged by the MET office hoist distant alarm signal no. 2 as cyclone ‘Kyant’ has shifted westwards.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been instructed to remain close to the coast and advance with prudence until further notice is provided.
‘Kyant’ gathering at 12 am on Wednesday approximately 610 km south-southwest of Chittagong port, 540 km south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 610 km south of Mongla port and 555 km south of Payra port, declared a Met office special announcement.
It is expected to strengthen further and proceed on a westward course.
The maximum maintained wind speed within 54 km of the cyclone center is about 62 kph, rising to 88 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will continue to be very harsh near the storm center.
