BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi reiterates his demand for a new election.
At BNP’s Naya Paltan headquarters this morning, Senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi called on the new Awami League committee, to restore democracy in the country, as he insists this is what’s the people are expecting.
Furthermore, a new election will save Bangladesh from the “crisis” it is currently facing.
Immediately an independent search committee should be formed to select a new national election commission. This search committee must have members from the BNP.
He hopes the newly search committee will be able to reorganize the Election Commission and soon after its formation will be equipped to hold a nonpartisan and fair national election.
Rizvi believes previously formed Election Commission only followed the wishes of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has dominated it with her yes men. If the new the commission were to set up again in the same vein, democracy and political space of the country would be in jeopardy.
Additionally, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi also condemned and protested that Moazzam Hossain Alal who is BNP joint secretary general for harassment and finally forbidden to leave for Thailand. Moazzam Hossain Alal was to leave for Thailand for treatment. Rizvi informed; his passport was valid and furthermore he had a court order barring the government from harassment, yet he was still not allowed to leave.
