The AL is holding its 20th council under the theme “Relentless progress on the road of development, holding Bangladesh’s head high”.

Dhaka city which has taken up a  festive look with the streets and buildings illuminated and decorated for the 20th national council of Bangladesh Awami League, those, who are not able to experience the 20th national council of Bangladesh Awami League, will be able to join the mega event through live streaming on Facebook.

This live streaming will be courtesy of The Centre for Research and Information (CRI), research organisation of the party, who will be supervising the coverage.

The event is live from Suhrawardi Udyan via verified Facebook page of Awami League at www.facebook.com/awamileague.1949

Approximately 50,000 members are anticipated to attend the two-day council. Councilors and party supporters have previously reached in Dhaka to attend the national council.

Along with them, 53 foreign political leaders from 11 countries from Australia, Austria, Bhutan, Canada, China, Italy, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Russia and the UK, are expected to attend the event.

Since 1981 Bangladesh Awami League has been presided by Sheikh Hasina.

Current secretary general Syed Ashraful Islam has been in the post of general secretary for two national councils held, first elected to the position in 2009.
