Three members of closed Facebook group Desperately Seeking Uncensored arrested

A closed Facebook group called Desperately Seeking Uncensored (DSU) which has over 121,629 members is notorious for sharing pornography and the distribution of private videos of women online.

Three administrators of the page namely Touhidul Islam Arnob, 19, Xobayer Ahmed, 21, and Mohammad Asif Ran, 18, were arrested by the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of the Police on Wednesday after they received multiple complaints of harassment made by these three individual.

Online abuse is becoming a norm even in Bangladesh with groups such as DSU blackmailing girls and women with scandalous images of them. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch Joint Commissioner Abdul Baten, addressing a press briefing, said “This group is headed by a Bangladeshi expatriate in Malaysia, called Mohammad Raul Chowdhury.

He further added, “The administrators and their accomplices hack Facebook profiles of individuals, especially women that are part of high society, models, actresses and college students, and post pornography on their timeline to tarnish their image.”

He went on to say that in most cases, the targets are blackmailed with derogatory images or videos for money. The most recent case was a student from Dhaka Medical College who was victimized and had even tried to commit suicide recently.

The Facebook group DSU is known to take revenge on people that try to share negative information about them. Apparently, they collectively try to hack and humiliate anyone who writes anything against them.

Beware of what you post on social media and share with people one other network!
